The Ranch Para-Ski Meet at Hunter Mountain, NY - March 25 - 26, 2000
 
The Blue Sky Ranch in Gardiner wanted to save the US Para-Ski Nationals from being canceled and invited every skydiver to come compete, play and party at Hunter Mountain, NY. As reported in our cover story, there has been differing information and opinions around the scheduling of this meet. But the meet goes on at Hunter Mountain!

The scheduled competitions consist of giant slalom (GS) skiing and accuracy parachuting. Jumping starts at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. "Wild Bill" and his new helicopter will bring the jumpers up to 3,000 feet. Each competitor will make 4 jumps in the open class and 2 jumps in the intermediate class under FAI rules. The target is located in a challenging and sloping mountainside venue.

The ski race is on Sunday. The GS course is approximately 1,000 meters long with a run time of about one minute and average 30-35 gates. The race is conducted under FIS rules.

Deluxe accommodations are being provided by the Villa Vosilla Hotel. The hotel has a spa, hot tub, indoor pool, weight room, bar, dinning room and is located just 2 minutes from the mountain. Special Para-Ski discount room rates are $70.00 for a double and $50.00 for a single. Call (518) 589-5060 for reservations. Tell them you're with the Para-Ski meet.

The registration fee of $200.00 for Open (D-License Required) includes 4 helo jumps, shirt, 2 day lift ticket, ski race. The registration fee of $150.00 for Intermediate (C-License Required) includes 2 helo jumps, shirt, 2 day lift ticket, ski race.

Hunter Mountain You can register at the hotel cocktail party Friday night from 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Hunter's Colonel Hall. Bring a current USPA card and in date gear (make sure your seal is properly attached).

Canadian & US Para-Ski National Championships - March 17 - 20, 2000
The 2000 Canadian & US Para-Ski Championships will take place in conjunction for the first time at Mont Saint-Sauveur, 60 km north of Montreal in Canada. This event offers a great opportunity to show off your parachuting accuracy skills, and demonstrate how you can carve up a ski slope as well! The Championships will feature two categories of competition--Giant Slalom and Parachuting Accuracy--with five different skill levels.
